Being a natural product it degrades in the environment. It's lightweigt and easy to clean. The light wiegt may cause it to track easier than others but that also makes it easier to vacuum.

For years we have used a 1 inch base of pine pellets followed by Cedarific (2-3 inches). The pine pellets add absorbency, extending the life of Cedarific, and complement it's natural fragrance. When Cedarific gets to the end of it's capacity to absorb there's a rapid increase in odor.

I have been using as a litter box filler for a few years now. Three cats adapted in no time. I use about 1" to cover the bottom of the pan and completely empty it daily. I also spray with a vinegar/dishwashing liquid mix and rinse with hot water before refilling. (Takes about 10 minutes max.) Two cats currently share a single pan with no problem and they never avoid using the box.

I live in an area where I am able to compost this without it being a problem. It's healthy for the cats (no dust or residue on their paws,) healthy for the environment when compared to clay and synthetic litters and does a decent job of odor control. No one has ever noticed I have a litter pan.

It does track a bit, but also sweeps up very easily. I really love this stuff and prefer it to anything else I've tried.

I use this in 3 cat boxes. It has a nice 'hope chest' smell to it. Urine sinks to the bottom and can be scooped out. Feces get dried up quickly and are easy to remove. When the entire box is changed, there isn't a heavy garbage bag to deal with. This is a lightweight, easy to handle product.
