Comments about Van Ness Enclosed Sifting Cat Litter Pan:

My 8-lb Tuxedo used this litterbox immediately and could turn around easily; however, my daughter's 20-lb. cats don't fit inside and ignore it when we visit. The box sits in my kitchen nook and does help control odor, especially with clumping litter. A big defect, as noted in other reviews, is that the 4 locking side clips get loose quickly, making carrying the box "iffy". I've used un-hooded sifting boxes before with success, but I've given up the sifting feature on this box since--for me--the trays are hard to separate and the clips don't work at all unless all 3 trays are stacked together. Because the main function is hampered, I could only give this model a 3 and wouldn't recommend it, particularly for larger cats. However, I am still using it until I find another model where this concept works better.

Comments about Van Ness Enclosed Sifting Cat Litter Pan:

I have researched a number of litter boxes that claim to be "easy to clean" and "keep litter in the box". That research showed me either the claims were false or the products would meet their claims if they were produced in a quality manner. Of course, there has always been the $200-$400 options that require close electrical access and/or major installation to existing plumbing facilities.

Then I discovered the Van Ness sifting litter pan (Woo Hoo!). My two 5-year old cats got used to the new pan in less than a day (without the door). The next day, I added the door and they loved it! As with most cats, they prefer to hide when "takin' care of business". My baby is about 16-17 lbs, her big brother is about 23-24 lbs and they both have plenty of room to get in, turn around & do what they need to do.

Cleaning the pan is easy & takes about 3-4 minutes. With multiple cats, that is a big deal.

The only thing keeping this from being a perfect litter pan is that one of the four latches has a tendency to slip loose when I lift the box. It's a small enough thing that I have no intention of complaining or returning the box & waiting for a replacement. I'm pretty sure my kitties would be quite peeved at me if I did.

Thank you for a quality product that lives up to its claims (and at a very reasonable price)!!
