I saw that this was designed for dogs, and so I double-checked that my vet hadn't made a mistake, and he said it could be used for cats, too. My cat has an enlarged heart and this is one of the 4 medicines he gets regularly. He has not had a relapse in 4 months and is active and happy.
I suppose because it is made for dogs, the taste is not appealing to a cat, and so he will not take it willingly. I crush the pill, mix it with a little water, and put it in his mouth with an eyedropper. He hates it, but he does get it that way.

My 12 year cocker spaniel was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and fluid around her lungs. We wanted to make her as comfortable as possible to live out her days. She takes Vetmedin twice a day..and I was constantly running to the vet for refills. So I decided to research online prescription prices, since she will be on this med for the rest of her life. It was the BEST price and shipping was free!

My dog likes the taste and thinks Vetmedin is a treat. I also like the ability to break the tablet in half easily as she only needs 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night.

This medication is expensive no matter where you get it. I have not found a better price and the company has been very reliable.
The Vetmedin helped keep my Saint Bernard with me for an additional 16 months after he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure.
They are supposed to be chewable, but I was never able to get him to take the pills on their own.
Shipping was quick and package always arrived in good condition.
There was a short delay (a day or two) in getting the authorization from my dogs vet for the first order. Customer service was courteous and helpful in getting it resolved. After sending the request again they called the vet to confirm it was received and called me back to notify me it was received by the vet.
Subsequent orders shipped much faster.

Discovered this before approved in US. My vet has administered with great success since we were able to get it. He says its the meds which actually works on the heart muscle.
My little one has survived congestive heart failure (and chronic bronchitis) for at least 5 yrs, and is going strong.

Our boxer is only 5 years old but diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. We immediately began using this with two other drugs to try and get him healthy again. He has returned to a pretty normal routine, playing outside and going for short walks.
Delivery has always been on time. We had a family emergency come up and I was concerned we would not get the product in time. I called customer service and they were able to see that it had shipped already and based on the location, would arrive before we would be leaving.

This is the stuff that keeps my dog alive & energetic even though he's in heart failure.
It's much more convenient to buy this from National Pet Pharmacy. They confirmed my scrip with the vet and got it to my house in a couple of days.

Our six year old golden retriever has congenital congestive heart failure. Vetmedin was part of the course of action prescribed by the veterinary cardiologist. Recently approved by the FDA for K-9 use in the US. It helps open up the arteries and veins in Charlie so the heart doesn't have to work so hard. It also at the same times stimulates the heart to work a bit harder. So far it has been a wonder drug for our boy. He has more energy and so far his heart is keeping his body functions normal.

Our 8 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russel Terrier "Roxie" was taken on 4-9-11 to the emergency hospital in bad shape with congenital heart failure, and later diagnosed with Left Side Heart failure. After three days in the hospital, being given a "load" of Furosemide (diuretic), Enalapril (ACE inhibitor), and Vetmedin, she rapidly improved and her prognosis was promising. We've been giving her all three meds regularly, as well as a low sodium, low calorie diet, for about 6 weeks now and she is doing very well. Her eyes are brighter; her coat is shiney, soft, and hardly any shedding; her energy is normal; appetite is normal; and all other funtions working well. I believe if it wasn't for the Vetmedin she wouldn't be doing as well. I've read from others with similar situations that their pets did so much better once Vetmedin was added to their care. Roxie started out on it with all her other meds, and seemed to have a remarkable improvement, with continued stablilty. The price here is the best (I checked around), as Vetmedin is not cheap, but worth every cent. I am so grateful for this medication, and for National Pet Pharmacy for helping to ease the financial burden of caring for our chronically ill baby girl.

This is an amazing medication. I truly believe it saved our older dog's life. He was diagnosed with a stage 4 heart murmur more than a year ago. At that visit our vet told us what we already knew--that our Levi was getting worse and in his last days. We would need to prepare for the inevitable and all we could do was keep him comfortable for the little time he had left. Then she said, "let's try one more thing." She told us about the success of Vetmedin in tests. He was already on Enalapril and Furosamide and she wanted us to add Vetmedin to the mix. Within 24 hours of starting the Vetmedin Levi was more alert and looked healthier than he had in a long time. Today he is still enjoying an amazing quality of life as a dignified and happy older dog of 15. It has now been 15 months since that visit with the vet when we were bracing ourselves for the end and we tried "one more thing". He is doing so well over a year later! Our vet said she wishes she had put him on Vetmedin sooner. His heart murmur is still a stage 4 but it has not gotten worse in over a year. He is our miracle dog.
Also-National Pet Pharmacy has the best price for this medication. I have shopped around.
